emotional oranges 이모셔널 오렌지스

 

 

제가 정말 정말 좋아하는 아티스트에 대한 이야기를 해보려고 해요. 바로 emotional oragnes!

 

 

emotional oranges는 2017년 만들어졌고 캘리포니아 로스 엔젤레스에 기반을 두고 있는 밴드예요. R&B와 Emo(펑크에서 발전된 록음악 형태. 복잡한 기타 연주와 감성적인 선율이 특징)의 음악을 하고 있고요. 음악 자체가 세련됐고 힙하기도 하지만 그것만큼 맘에 드는 건 가사예요. 가사가 정말 좋아요. 멤버들의 음색도 너무나도 좋고요. 

 

emotional oranges의 멤버들은 실명이 아니라 A와 V라는 필명을 사용하고 있어요. 이유는 평범한 삶을 바라기 때문이라고 해요. 더불어 대중들이 기타 다른 요소가 아니라 오롯이 "곡" 자체에만 집중할 수 있기도 하고요. 얼굴을 공개하지 않았지만 멤버 둘 다 선남선녀일 거고 만약 공개한다면 그룹을 알리는데 플러스 요인으로 작용할 텐데 음악으로만 승부를 본다는 것은 그만큼 자신들의 음악에 대해 확신이 충만한 거라고 생각해요. 그리고 그들에게 깊이 공감합니다. 너무 훌륭하니까요!

 

 

 

자료 조사를 위해 인터뷰 기사를 보았는데 emotional oranges 멤버들이 말하길 자신들은 5년 안에 세상에서 가장 크고 위대한 밴드가 될 거고, 코첼라에서 공연을 할 거라고 해요. 그들의 음악을 듣자마자 홀린 듯이 첫눈에 반해버렸기 때문에 충분히 가능할 거라고 생각해요. 지금도 많이 유명해졌지만 앞으로도 더더 승승장구했으면 좋겠어요! 진작에 소개해드리고 싶었는데 항상 좋아하는 것은 포스팅 작성하기가 더 힘든 것 같아요. 이모셔널 오렌지스의 좋은 곡이 정말 많은데, 그중에서 제가 제일 좋아하는 세 가지 곡을 소개해 드릴게요!

가장 먼저 소개해 드릴 곡은 2018년 5월 4일에 발매된 첫 번째 싱글 앨범 "Motion"으로 제가 emotional oranges를 처음으로 만난 곡이기도 해요. 이 바이브에 어떻게 반하지 않을 수가 있죠?

두 번째로 소개해 드릴 곡은 West Coast Love 예요. 소개해드리는 곡들 중에서 가장 최근에 발매되었어요. 올해 3월 27일 날 공개되었습니다. 처음 곡 출시되고 들었을 때 역시.. 이모셔널 오렌지.. 하고 감탄하였답니다.

 

캘리포니아 엘에이 출신 그룹답게 이름도 웨스트 코스트 러브. 소개해 드리는 곡들 중에서 가장 가사가 맘에 드는 곡이기도 해요. 가사에 맞는 뮤직 비디오도 너무 예쁘고요. 무엇으로 보나 센스가 정말 좋은 듯해요.

마지막으로 소개해 드리는 곡은 Personal로 제가 Emotional oranges의 곡 중에서 가장 많이 들었고 가장 좋아하는 곡이에요. 개인적으로 뮤비도 재밌게 잘 만든 것 같아요. 빅쇼트에 카메오로 출연했던 마고 로비도 등장하고 말이에요. 보통 음악 포스팅을 할 땐 제가 가사를 의역하여 함께 소개해드리는데, 이번 포스팅은 그러지 않으려고 해요. 

 

다름 아니라, 가사가 조금.. 은 선정적 이어서요.(조금이 아닌 것 같긴 한데..) 제가 한글로 의역한 가사를 첨부하지 않은 가장 큰 이유가 이 곡 personal 때문이에요. 뭔가 좀 부끄럽달까요.(ㅠㅠ) 어떤 곡은 한글 번역글을 달고 어떤 곡은 안 달고 하는 게 이상해서 아예 다 달지 않기로 했거든요.
